Swiss wealth manager Julius Baer has appointed Reto Buerer as its team head of Asia Switzerland, reporting to Christian Cappelli, head of Asia Switzerland.
Baer, who is based in Zurich, brings to the bank over two decades of experience in wealth management covering ultra-high-net-wealth (UHNW) clients across multiple countries in Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand. His extensive background in managing key clients and leading high-performing teams positions the bank for growth in this important segment.
He joins the bank from UBS where he headed Southeast Asia coverage for Credit Suisse out of Switzerland.
Julius Baer is ranked as the largest pure-play wealth manager in Asia and the second-largest bank in Switzerland (by market capitalization). Asia is considered by the bank as its second home market, a quarter of Julius Baer’s total assets under management and global workforce are based in Asia.
The bank has strong presence in key markets like Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and China, as well as its Asia Switzerland desk that, it says, “ensures that its clients are covered across Asia and beyond, allowing them to seize global investment opportunities and leverage international expertise, and to safeguard their legacies”.
