Asset World Corp Public Company Limited ( AWC ), a Bangkok-based integrated lifestyle real estate group, has secured a sustainability-linked loan ( SLL ) amounting to 6.6 billion baht ( US$200 million ) from Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited ( OCBC ).
The transaction marks AWC's first strategic financing partnership with OCBC, reinforcing both organizations' shared sustainability ambitions while supporting the Thai group’s growth strategy across its hospitality, commercial, and lifestyle destination portfolio, according to a joint statement.
"We really appreciate OCBC's confidence and the shared vision in sustainable tourism industry potential,” comments AWC president and chief executive officer Wallapa Traisorat. “We are delighted to begin our partnership with OCBC, one of the world’s leading financial institutions, to strengthen sustainable economic growth and create long-term value to industry and ecosystem.”
Elaine Lam, head of global corporate banking at OCBC, adds: “Thailand remains an attractive market with strong potential, particularly in tourism and related sectors. As a regional bank with deep Asean roots, we are committed to supporting companies that contribute to sustainable economic growth with our sustainable finance capabilities. We look forward to deepening our relationship with AWC and supporting its long-term development plans.”
The SLL will support AWC's continued investment across its diversified portfolio of hospitality, commercial office, and lifestyle destinations, enabling the company to deliver projects that respond to evolving travel, business, and lifestyle needs while creating new opportunities for local communities and strengthening Thailand's tourism ecosystem.
With an interest-bearing debt-to-equity ratio that remains below the industry average, AWC continues to demonstrate financial discipline while preserving the capacity to execute its long-term growth strategy, the Thai company says.
“At AWC, every project is guided by our belief that business success should create sustainable value and be part of a better future together,” AWC’s Wallapa notes. “Through our Building Better Future mission and 3BETTERs framework – Better Planet, Better People, and Better Prosperity – we are committed to developing destinations that benefit communities, support tourism industry, and create lasting value for future generations. Together with OCBC, we look forward to advancing projects that unlock new opportunities for the economy and contribute to a sustainable future."
